Grandma was coming to visit her grandkids TJ and Savanah and she wanted to get some great photos of her them while she was in town. She had a special garden setting in mind for this session, and so I recommended The New Hanover Arboretum. This lovely destination is a personal favorite and perfect for all kinds of sessions thanks to the variety of backgrounds. These New Hanover Arboretum to colorful flowers and trees that seem to bloom almost all year round! There is also a nice little pond with big koi and a precious little red bridge that goes over one end of the pond. Another favorite spot in the Arboretum is a small romantic garden temple, a Japanese Zen garden, a rose garden and a memorial garden, all of which give beautiful backgrounds for family photos.
During the session and after getting the posed shots out of the way, I gave the kids each a bottle of bubbles to play with. They were thrilled with the new entertainment and chased each other around while blowing bubbles. This gave me a great opportunity to capture them in action. Their dad even snuck into some of the photos! It was so sweet seeing TJ play with his little sister. He would hold her hand and show lots of love, just like a big brother should! I’m so happy to have been able to capture these moments not only for TJ and Savanah’s grandmother, but also for them when they are older. I know they will want to look back on these moments later in life.
