Check out these beauties! I have to admit, I’m just now starting to catch up on my session blogging. This Mommy & Me portrait session at New Hanover Arboretum was in December. The weather was so mild and the sun was casting a warm glow over everything that evening. Little Leilani was not much in a mood to smile and have fun when she first arrived. She was shy and hiding behind her mommy’s legs and was very unsure about me and my camera. But it was OK. I knew that with a little time, and a little play with her mom, she’d come out of her shell and enjoy the gardens. I aim to capture true emotion and authentic, tender moments between family members. I do that by encouraging parents and kids play, kiss, tickle, and hug. When interacting in this way, kids and parents can’t help but enjoy themselves–and that’s when I get the best shots!
