I love the south end tip of Wrightsville Beach. It’s one of my favorite spots for family sessions because I can get that beautiful golden sunset light and have the background be water without my clients squinting. Not to mention, it’s usually pretty quiet and the dunes have beautiful grasses growing on them that add to a nice backdrop variety in my client’s galleries.

This sweet little family and I had to reschedule the session a few times due to the weather not cooperating. But when we finally got there, the weather was perfect. Little Finley was just learning how to walk, so the sand was a nice added challenge to his growing balancing skills. These sunset sessions can be tough for little ones in the late summer because the days are still pretty long and kids are usually winding down during this time. But Finley was a real champ. He was having so much fun playing in the water, feeling the sand between his toes and receiving an abundance of kisses from mom and dad, that he was too busy to realize how tired he was. That’s what I love about outdoor family sessions. Families get to play and interact (there can be a bit of posing for those must-have shots) while I run around them, clicking away.
